DANIELE BRUSASCHETTO: "Silence is the most beautiful magic. An almost unattainable rarity in nature"

Daniele Brusaschetto is a veteran of Italian and international music underground. His musical expression is the sum of two artistic souls: the radicalism of extreme music, from the death metal of his early bands, to industrial and harsh noise, through the most experimental side of ambient electronics, marries the intimate, whispered dimension of a warped and oblique songwriting, with lyrics (often in Italian) that give a twisted sight on everyday’s most apparently insignificant objects and actions. Across the millennium change Daniele Brusaschetto has played live in several tours in Europe and U.S.A., accompanied on stage by Bruno Dorella, one of the most recognized characters of non-conventional Italian music in the world, and Marco Schiavo of Larsen, and sharing the stage with artists such as Oxbow, Ulan Bator, OvO, Marlene Kuntz, Uzeda, Bugo, Larsen, Paolo Spaccamonti, Sikhara and many others. Year 2016 sees the release of “Radio Stridentia”, the 12th official release under the name Daniele Brusaschetto, not counting the several side-projects. “Radio Stridentia”, likewise the majority of his releases, is available on Bosco Rec, a label founded by Brusaschetto himself in 2003 after releasing some of his works for labels such as Bar La Muerte, RRR, Blossoming Noise, Radon e Snowdonia. [danielebrusaschetto.net] Here's an interview with this wonderful musician (2016 03 22).

What collaborations were/are the most interesting and important to You and why?
- Collaborations have not been that many .. :-) Each of them has had its way, its importance, its time, its wealth of memories and anecdotes. There isn't really one in particular that I carry in my heart.

Can You tell me, in short the main ideas are behind Your music? Could You name Your favorite Your compositions / albums / collaborations? What about the new album?
- I make music because instinct led me to move fingers on string instruments and on various types of potentiometers, there is no particular idea or intention behind any of it... I could say that it is my "logbook".. Actually it is an addiction I can't get rid of.
My favorite album among those I produced ... Maybe "Circonvoluzioni", the first one I recorded and mixed entirely by himself ..
The new album, "Radio Strientia", is one of the lesser dark ones that I produced, released on the 20th of February. So far the reviews I've read are very positive .. And I'm very happy for that!

The album is really very good. Seems So Long Ago, Nancy cover of Leonard Cohen seems so dark and magic. You play with sounds, but, to paraphrase Death In June, what ends, when there‘s no sound?
- Silence is the most beautiful magic. An almost unattainable rarity in nature.

What is and what is not a Sound Art?
- This question can be unequivocally answered by the laws of the record/music/art market, as that is the most reliable needle of the scale.

What do You think about relations between the old art and computer art? Are they compatible?
- I think that beauty lies in the blend of the two. For instance to record a classical guitar with a PC and then go treat it to bring out a sound that is completely different, unrecognizable, inedited.

What do You think about thousands of neofolk/industrial/ambient/tribal/electroacoustic/avangarde etc. bands/projects? Is it a kind of trend, o just a tendency forwards better music?
- To tell you the truth, I do not know much. Over the years my interest in discovering new artists/bands diminished more and more .. It happens that I occasionally hear songs that strike a chord with me and attract me, but once I'm done listening I turn the page and move on. However, all those who strive to create personal music have all my respect.

What do You know about Lithuania? What Lithuanian and foreign musicians do You value most?
- Unfortunately I don't know much about Lithuania. I know it's a country in full growth. I've never been there, I'd like to visit it one day .. Years ago I was in contact with a musician called Ramūnas Jaras, from Kaunas, but then we lost touch.. There are really lots of interesting musicians in the world, you can discover dozens of them every day just browsing the social networks.

What inspires You most?
- The unreachable mysteries of life...

What are You working on right now?
- I'm looking for live gigs.. I'm juggling various new collaborations, but they require time and relaxation ..

What does the name of Your band mean to You?
- Daniele Brusaschetto is just my first and last name. I chose to use it as is to have no chance of escape, a 100% connection between the man and the artist.

Thank You.
